Did you know that southwest Florida in June is insanely HOT? Didja? We're talking brain-melting, eyeball- liquefying, why-bother-showering hot and humid.
But it's still vacation. And that's all that matters.
The Gulf is brilliantly beautiful, blue-green and bathwater-warm. The sand is delightfully sugary under my feet (even though it clings to every fiber of my clothing, every follicle, every skin cell). I've seen Snooty, the oldest manatee in captivity, visited Sponge-o-Rama in Tarpon Springs and took a ride on the Sponge-o-Rama catamaran out to one of the Gulf barrier islands. Saw dolphins. Lots of really cool birds. (Talked to a few.) Collected shells. Taken daily naps. Well, except for today. We were on the boat during naptime.
Heat advisory tomorrow. Total immersion in the Gulf may be required. Maybe a movie. Probably a nap.
Vacation is tough. But somebody has to do it.
